The Choir's summer concert is focussed on English repertoire and features the original version, accompanied by piano, of Elgar's six movement choral suite, From the Bavarian Highlands.  The programme will also includes part songs by Holst and Vaughan Williams and a group of English solo songs will be sung by soloists from the choir. 

The song cycle The Year's Awakening was written in the early 1980's to poems by Thomas Hardy.  The cycle is dedicated to Joy Finzi and was given its premier by Deryck Webb and Alistair Jones in a private performance at the house on Lady Bliss in 1983.  Since that performance, the cycle has undergone a number of small revisions.  This performance is the first of the complete revised version. 

    Tickets prices are £7.50, or £5.00 for concessions, available at the door.
