Julia Dewhurst received her musical training in London where she gained diplomas from the Royal College of Music and Trinity College of Music. She currently studies with Heather Harper. She has broadcast for BBC TV and Radio and has appeared in many of the country's leading concert venues as well as undertaking engagements in Holland, Germany, France, Spain and Saudi Arabia.
British festival appearances include the Malvern Festival where she sang under the direction of Yan Pascal Tortelier, the Camden Festival where she gave the first performance of Brian Chapple's Magnificat, the Presteigne Festival for a performance of Britten's Les Illuminations and the Three Spires Festival for Haydn's Nelson Mass.
On the opera stage, she has appeared with Kent Opera, English National Opera, English Touring Opera, the Royal Opera, Pavilion Opera, European Chamber Opera, London Opera Players and with Opera East. Her roles have included Susanna (The Marriage of Figaro), Queen of the Night and Pamina (The Magic Flute), Gilda (Rigoletto), Adèle (Die Fledermaus), Donna Anna (Don Giovanni), Despina (Cosî fan tutte), Micaela (Carmen) and Constanze (Die Entfuhrüng aus dem Serail).
